Mrs. May Frances Ricks Stokes was born in Nash County, NC on June 2, 1961. She was the third child born to Annie Mae and the late Granger Branch. She departed this life on September 21, 2011 at home. She was preceded in death by: her father and grandmother, Granger Branch and Mary Alice Lynch Ricks Lyons; twin niece and nephew, Regina and Reginald Branch. May lived in Washington, DC and New Jersey. she returned to Rocky Mount, NC with her family as a young child and attended Nash Rocky Mount Schools. In her leisure time she loved fishing, crocheting, decorating, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She always loved to smile when everyone else thought there a wasn't a need to. She was glue for her girls and now they carry the torch of burning love for the family. May was a dedicated worker of fifteen years at Wal-Mart and four years or more at Chick-Fil-A. She was a member of Victory of Deliverance but later became a member of New Destiny Outreach Ministries. Due to illness she couldn't attend all services and continue working. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband of thirty years, Edward Stokes of the home; three daughters, Shakiesha Brake (Darnell), Nekenndra Hart (Martelus), and Zhanajiah Stokes all of Rocky Mount, NC; five grandchildren, MarQue, Mar'Quez, and Mar'Quevion Ricks, Martaveous, and Ny'Quevius Hart; her loving mother, Annie Branch; three sisters, Jean Baines (Bobby), Barbara Lynch, Demetra Coley (Michael); two brothers, Ronald Ricks (Linda), and Reginald Branch all of Rocky Mount, NC; twelve nieces and nephews, nineteen great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
